Converted value—

Formula

Value = Min + (mA − 4) / 16 × (Max − Min)mA = 4 + (Value − Min) / (Max − Min) × 16

Worked example

For a 0–100 °C transmitter, 12 mA represents 50 °C. A 75 °C setpoint corresponds to 16 mA.

Interpret the range before the number

4 mA represents the lower process limit, not zero current. A reading outside 4–20 mA may indicate a diagnostic condition or overrange; verify the device manual before treating it as a measurement.

The process unit is whatever your sensor measures. The calculator does not infer whether the range represents temperature, pressure, level or percent.
