Three-phase: kW = (sqrt(3) x V x I x cos phi) / 1000Single-phase: kW = (V x I x cos phi) / 1000 Worked example
At 400 V, 25 A and power factor 0.85, P = √3 × 400 × 25 × 0.85 / 1000 = 14.72 kW.
Scope and interpretation
The three-phase formula assumes a balanced load. For an unbalanced or distorted supply, use suitable per-phase measurements.
